Tradition
My family has a slightly weird tradition which, frankly, I'm surprised hasn't been stopped by the law yet. Every child born into the family, on the day after their 18th birthday, has some of their limbs amputated. Which limbs they lose, and where they lose them, is determined by their birth order. There's a complex system for all of it, and how many limbs we lose alternates. This affects our extended family on our mum's side, so they affect the limbs we each lose.
